  13. 1.  Insert the diskette labeled DOS LAN Services Disk 1 into your disk 
  14.     drive.
  15.  
  16. 2.  Change to that drive and type: 
  17.    
  18.     INSTALL
  19.  
  20. 3.  Choose the directory where you want the software installed.
  21.     The default is C:\NET.
  22.  
  23. 4.  A menu appears that provides a list of network cards.
  24.     Choose "Network card not shown in the list below..." 
  25.  
  26. 5.  Type:
  27.  
  28.     A:\NDIS2\DOS 
  29.     
  30.     Remove the DOS LAN Services Disk 1 diskette and insert the EtherDisk 1
  31.     diskette.
  32.  
  33. 6.  The next menu should display 3Com Fast EtherLink XL/EtherLink XL Bus 
  34.     Master Family.
  35.  
  36. 7.  Additional menus will appear. 
  37.     
  38.     Choose the appropriate options for your network environment. Refer 
  39.     to the IBM manual if there are questions regarding these menus.
  40.  
  41. 8.  After completing the installation, you must copy EL90X.DOS to C:\NET
  42.     before rebooting.

  44. IBM LAN Server v4.0 for OS/2
  45. ----------------------------
  46.  
  47. This procedure describes how to install the NDIS driver for LAN Server 4.0.
  48. OS/2 must be already installed on your computer.  To install the NDIS driver
  49. for the 3Com Fast EtherLink XL/EtherLink XL Bus Master, follow these steps:
  50.  
  51.  1. Open an OS/2 prompt.
  52.  
  53.  2. Insert the LAN Server MPTS (Multi-Protocol Transport
  54.     Services) disk 1 in your floppy drive.
  55.  
  56.  3. Make that drive your current drive.  Type:
  57.        
  58.     A: [Enter]
  59.  
  60.  4. Type:
  61.     
  62.     Install [Enter]
  63.  
  64.  5. Select OK.
  65.  
  66.  6. Select Install.
  67.  
  68.  7. Select a target drive and then choose OK.
  69.  
  70.     The default drive is C.
  71.  
  72.  8. Insert disk 2 when prompted and select OK.
  73.  
  74.  9. Select OK when the MPTS installation is complete.
  75.  
  76. 10. Select Configure.

  78. 11. Select LAN Adapters and Protocols and then choose Configure.
  79.  
  80. 12. Select Other Adapters and then choose OK.

  82. 13. Insert the 3Com EtherDisk 1 diskette in the
  83.     floppy drive and enter the drive letter and path to
  84.     the 3Com NDIS drivers.  For example, type:
  85.  
  86.     A:\NDIS\OS2
  87.  
  88. 14. Select OK.
  89.  
  90. 15. Select 3Com Fast EtherLink/EtherLink XL family 
  91.     adapter for OS/2 and then choose Add.
  92.  
  93. 16. Under Current Configuration, select 3Com
  94.     EtherLink III adapter for OS/2 and then choose
  95.     Edit.
  96.  
  97. 17. Enter the 12-digit address of your 3Com Fast EtherLink/EtherLink XL 
  98.     family adapter and then choose OK.
  99.  
  100.     The address is found on the 3Com Fast 
  101.     EtherLink/EtherLink XL adapter
  102.     following the characters EA=.
  103.  
  104. 18. Select the protocol(s) you will be using with
  105.     your network and then choose Add.
  106.  
  107. 19. Select your protocol(s) under Current
  108.     Configuration and then choose Edit.
  109.  
  110. 20. Enter the 12-digit address of your
  111.     Fast EtherLink/EtherLink XL family 
  112.     adapter and then choose OK.
  113.  
  114. 21. Select OK.
  115.  
  116. 22. Select Close.
  117.  
  118. 23. Select Exit.
  119.  
  120. 24. Select Update CONFIG.SYS and choose Exit.

  122. 25. Select OK.

  126. 27. Quit OS/2 and reboot for the changes to take effect.

  128. 28. Follow the IBM instructions on installing
  129.     LAN Server to complete the installation.
